Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1/2 cup (120mL) room temperature margarine
  • 1/2 cup (120mL) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60mL) brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup (240mL) all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp (2mL) salt
  • 1 tsp (5mL) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp (2mL) baking soda
  • 1 cup (240mL) semi-sweet chocolate chips


  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cream together margarine, granulated & brown sugar, egg and vanilla extract until mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. In a separate bowl combine flour, salt and baking soda.
  4. Once combined, stir into margarine mixture.
  5. Add in chocolate chips, mix until thoroughly integrated into the rest of the batter.
  6. Line baking tray with parchment paper. Place approximately a tablespoon of batter per cookie. Make sure to leave adequate spacing between cookies.
  7. Bake in oven for 9 minutes.
  8. Let cool for at least five minutes before eating. Enjoy!
